Thirty raving fans become a devoted Madonna choir. Each individual voice expresses a very personal connection to the songs from the album “The Immaculate Collection” (1990) by the “Queen of Pop.” As in many of her works, Candice Breitz deals here with the phenomenon of stardom and what pop culture means to each of us. What makes for the special bond Madonna fans feel with the pop icon and figure of projection and identification? Despite the high density, very personal, intimate moments emerge that tell of the happiness of “being a fan,” music, and passion.
