Cherry trees, wisteria, and elephant grass grow 20 meters above the ground on a massive steel structure, transforming the voestalpine open space into a natural paradise. In the treetops, voices quote the cherry (blossom) poems of Günter Grass, Dorothy Parker, Rini Shibu, and others. Lyrical texts are applied to glass plates in illegible script, as a vague reference to what we are hearing. Eva Schlegel stages here a poetic, natural-artificial Garden of Eden in which every element is replete with allusions. Huge mirror surfaces multiply and refract both nature and the urban environment—but refuse to reveal our own reflection.
