Ein Blatt in diesem Garten, 2019/2021

Installation
plants, lettering, gold wire

The jumping-off point for this artwork is a text by the thirteenth-century Persian poet Muhammad Rumi. He understood the universe as a harmonious whole in which everything is related to and coexists with everything else. Sonja Meller takes up this image to create a poetic connection between nature and culture. She has written fragments of Rumi’s verses with gold wire and interwoven the lettering with the branches of a shrub in such a way that the text almost appears to have grown there naturally.
